Healthy Lunchables

In # 10: COVID beyond 2024 by Corinne1 Comment

One of the most popular prepackaged foods that kids favor in their lunchboxes are lunchables. Make your own pizzas, make your own chicken nuggets, nachos, ham and cheddar etc. My mom rarely ever bought us these because they are ultra processed and contain little nutrients but every single kid loves these, and it’s guaranteed that they don’t care if it is healthy or not. Despite their popularity, there is not really any version of a lunchable that is readily available in the store that is a healthier version but also still just as delicious as these snack packs. Of course there are boxes of foods that are prepackaged for lunches with things like a sandwich and fruits and vegetables, but none of them are fun, and kids will just throw away the vegetables. To get kids to actually eat healthy, it’s got to be made fun, and in something that they already recognize, like a lunchable. and that is why we have proposed the munchable.

The three varieties that we have created offer a difference of flavors, textures, and colors to ensure your child will find them fun and interesting and eat every last bite. Each box comes with a delicious strawberry smoothie with fruit and vegetable purees inside. The first box, Captain Carnotaurus’s lunch contains: 2 fruit kebabs with sliced apples, bananas and grapes; whole grain chicken breast dinosaur nuggets with a barbeque sauce; and whole grain crackers with a hummus dip. The second box, the Picky Parrot’s Pasta, contains a whole grain pasta with marinara and meatballs with hidden veggies in the marinara, a berry salad with blackberries, strawberries and raspberries, and mini garlic bread slices. The final box in our startup line is the Mr. Peanut, with peanut butter and jelly sandwich rolls, sweetened puffed rice snacks and cut carrots and cucumbers with ranch dip. These healthy versions of lunchables will be a similar price to their counterparts, but deliver many more important nutrients for your little ones in an increasingly busier world. They are simple, tasty and kid approved. As our line grows we will innovate new munchables to expand our line, this is just the beginning of an easy, healthy, affordable choice to put one less worry on parent’s minds.

  1. I absolutely love this idea! Growing up I also used to ask my mom for lunchables and similarly got told no. One of the most annoying things they would say was that “we could make it from home” especially the cheese, ham and cracker one. But I think this idea is so fun and is personally similar to what I would potentially want to go into in the future.
